When most people think about aviation infrastructure, airports and runways usually come to mind, because these are things we see every time we fly. But, for those of us in aerospace, and those of us who have piloted aircraft, we know that the systems we rely on are largely unseen.
Those unseen systems are an extensive network of safety critical, ground-based facilities, and technologies that guide every aircraft in the sky. For the nation’s airspace system to work properly we need this ground-based aviation infrastructure to be reliable.
The importance of renewing this equipment has caught the attention of many industry players, and I am pleased to announce that a new advocacy group, called the Ground-Based Aviation Infrastructure Coalition was launched to promote the rapid modernization of this infrastructure.
